What have I done?

Submitted yourself to the hand of fate by not strapping your car down properly?

Besides possibly exceeding the towing capacity of that Rover, nothing. Rather have a Toyota than a Honda though...

Am I terrible for caring about the Civic Shuttle more than your Land Rover? :O
That’s AWESOME! How is the rust?

My God, man! You bought a Land Rover? Good thing you have that Honda to get you home...

You’d be shocked, old Rovers have healthy tow ratings being body on frame and solid axle front and rear, IIRC D2s have a 7k tow rating.
My Range Rover Classic is beyond 5k

This picture of a heavily depreciated old Land Rover towing a weird 4WD Honda hatch/wagon thingy is one of the O ppoiest photos I’ve ever seen.

Nah we’re good. 5600 or so in high range and 7700 in low. Trailer is about 2200 and the car is about the same.
Slow, but not sweating it.

Someone posted this in a Washington Land Rovers facebook group I’m in and it’s too perfect.

hehehe I think you got it backwards :p
The Civic can move under its own power. The LR is the one that
has to be towed lol

Well you are officially in my kind of crazy territory , my wife has totally cut me off from bringing anything else home! My older CRV is my Honda AWD reliable vehicle!

I would expect 5,000 pounds. I’m sure you were fine. I was being a troll.

Seemingly non-existent , though there is some suspect looking undercoating that might be hiding something. Car is from CA and has been in Arkansas for a long time. We don’t really get rust here.

Haha gotcha.

I have zero faith in the loose safety chains. The tire straps on the front of UHaul trailers are almost invariably worn out, not securing the entire weight of a vehicle by the front wheels isn’t asking for trouble as it is. And there’s really nothing stopping the back end of the car from bouncing around, no matter how tight you get that “safety” chain. There’s a reason professional carriers always strap a vehicle down in a way that somewhat compresses the suspension.

That’s fair, though I'm not sure what a reasonable alternative is.

You’re crazy in all the right ways.
